Aldo and his family visited Karimun Jawa on the last vacation. It was a short visit. Early in the morning, they went snorkeling. A guide helped the family enjoy the activities. They enjoyed the beautiful reef and the fish in the water. After that, they visited the shark-breeding pool. They had a chance to swim with the sharks. It was scary. Aldo trembled with fear when he watched the sharks swimming around him and his family. They, soon, left the shark pool and enjoyed playing with other sea creatures, such as blow fish, starfish and turtles. The blow fish puffed itself up when Ivan held it on his hand.

The translation of the text:

Aldo dan keluarganya mengunjungi Karimunjawa pada liburan yang lalu   . Itu adalah kunjungan singkat. Dini hari, mereka pergi menyelam. Seorang pemandu membantu keluarga menikmati kegiatan. Mereka menikmati terumbu karang yang indah dan ikan di air. Setelah itu, mereka mengunjungi kolam pembiakan hiu. Mereka berkesempatan berenang bersama hiu. Menakutkan. Aldo gemetar ketakutan ketika dia melihat hiu berenang di sekelilingnya dan keluarganya. Mereka, segera, meninggalkan kolam hiu dan menikmati bermain dengan makhluk laut lainnya, seperti ikan buntal, bintang laut dan kura-kura. Ikan buntal itu menggembung sendiri ketika Ivan memegangnya.

Teks di atas termasuk jenis teks recount. Recount Text adalah salah satu jenis text dalam bahasa Inggris yang menceritakan kembali tentang kejadian-kejadian atau pengalaman-pengalaman di masa lampau. Tujuan dari Recount Text adalah untuk memberikan informasi atau untuk menghibur pembaca sehingga tidak terdapat konflik.  

Text organization:  

• Orientation : berisi tentang pengenalan mengenai latar belakang cerita, kapan , dimana dan orang-orang yang trerlibat di dalam cerita  
• Event :merupakan rangkaian kejadian di dalam cerita yang di ceritakan secara kronologis  
• Reorientation : kesimpulan yang merupakan komentar penulis mengenai kejadian.  

Unsur Kebahasaan:  

• Menggunakan noun dan pronoun, contoh: I, we, they  
• Menggunakan action verbs , contoh: went, played, spent  
• Menggunakan time conjunction, contoh: and, but, after, dan finally  
• Menggunakan adverbs dan adverbs of phrases, contoh: in my house, two days ago, slowly  
• Menggunakan adjective, contoh: brave, strong, smart  
• Menggunakan past tense
